Scenes: How they work & creation

Published:

Purpose and Benefits of Scenes

Scenes allow multiple devices or groups in the smart home system to be controlled together. A scene consists of several consecutive actions, such as:

  • Dimming the living room lights
  • Partially closing the blinds
  • Turning on the TV

These actions are executed in the chosen order – providing comfort and efficiency.

Structure and Elements of a Scene

  • Elements: Each scene contains a series of elements – actions for devices or groups as well as waiting times.
  • Order: The order can be flexibly arranged through drag & drop in the portal.
  • Waiting times: Waiting times as scene elements allow for precise control of time sequences.

Example: “DOWN” action for the blinds → 10 seconds waiting time → “STOP” action → Result: blinds are partially lowered.

Step-by-Step: Creating a Scene

  1. Open the “Scenes +” menu
  2. Assign a name and add it
  3. Click “ADD ACTION” – this adds a device or group with a desired action
  4. Define conditions (optional) – actions can only be executed if certain criteria are met (e.g., presence, time)
  5. Set the order of elements, insert waiting times if necessary.
  6. Save the scene and trigger it manually or automate it as needed.

Special Features: Conditions for Actions

Each action in a scene can be assigned conditions. The action will only be executed if the condition is met (e.g., “Only if someone is home”). This increases the automation and security of your scenes.
