everHome Presence Function – Your home becomes smarter

Published:

What does the “Presence” function do?

With the presence function, everHome automatically detects who is currently at home—via the mobile devices connected to the home. This allows your smart home to control things like heating or lighting depending on whether someone is present or not.

The three modes of your home

Depending on presence, your home can adopt one of three modes:

  • PRESENT – People are at home.
  • ABSENT – Everyone is outside.
  • VACATION – Everyone is outside, and no one is expected to return anytime soon.

You can set customized time and temperature schedules for each of these modes—based on whether someone is present or not.

How to set up and use presence smartly

Activate presence:

  • Open the everHome app and enable the “Presence” function in the settings.
  • Be sure to disable all battery optimizations for the everHome app—on both Android and iOS—to ensure reliable presence detection.

Define actions for status changes:

  • In the portal or app, you can define actions under home settings that should be automatically executed during a change in presence status—for example, turning on lights or lowering the heating.

Control automatically or manually:

  • When you come home, your smartphone detects this and can, for example, turn on the hallway light—provided you’ve set up the corresponding reaction.
  • You can also manually set the presence status via the app or a switch (e.g., at the entrance)—very practical if your phone runs out of battery or geo-detection doesn’t work.

An example of usage

Suppose you want the heating to switch to “comfort temperature” as soon as you arrive home:

Turn on presence.
Create an action: “Heating to comfort temperature,” triggered by the mode switch to PRESENT.
You’ll feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door—without any manual intervention.
