How do I enter the PIN on my meter?
Published:
Many electronic electricity meters only allow additional consumption displays after entering a personal PIN. The method provided for this - the repeated flashing of the optical sensor with a flashlight (“blinking in”) - is often cumbersome and prone to errors. However, there are smartphone apps that automate this process.
For convenient PIN entry on electricity meters with optical sensors, various apps from the respective app stores can be used. After entering the PIN once, the app generates the appropriate blinking pattern via the smartphone’s LED flash and thus automatically transmits the PIN to the meter.
Examples of suitable apps
Android
StromPIN:
- Simple PIN entry by entering the PIN once in the app. The smartphone is held in front of the light sensor; the app sends the blinking pattern automatically. Tested with meters from the manufacturer EMH.
iOS
Stromlampe EDL21 Electricity Meter
- Convenient transmission of the PIN via the LED flash on the iPhone for meters with optical sensors. Optimized for EDL21 meters. The app generates the light pulses automatically, eliminating the need for manual “blinking in.”
