My electricity meter is being replaced – what do I need to bear in mind?

This article covers the topic of meter replacement and what you need to bear in mind.

Meter replacements are usually announced by the meter operator. To ensure your EcoTracker continues to function correctly and records energy data after the replacement, there are a few steps you need to take.

Procedure for meter replacement
As soon as you are informed of the planned meter replacement, please contact your meter operator. Let them know that you use an everHome EcoTracker and request the PIN for the new meter in good time.

Wait for the meter replacement
The replacement itself will be carried out by the meter operator or a company commissioned by them.
Then activate the meter using the new PIN and set the INF option to ON.

Reposition the EcoTracker
After the meter has been replaced, the EcoTracker must be positioned on the new electricity meter.
Make sure the device is centred on the data interface and that the EcoTracker’s label is legible to you.

Carry out the meter change in the everHome app
Open the everHome app and proceed as follows:

  • Select your EcoTracker from the device list.
  • Tap the cogwheel icon to open the device settings.
  • Tap ‘Change meter’ to register the new meter.

After this step, the EcoTracker will restart once and attempt to read the meter. Provided it has been positioned correctly, the data will reappear as usual in the everHome app. If the power consumption does not appear as usual, please contact the support team. Please provide the support team with the exact meter model. You can find a list of compatible meters here.

Some meter models require specific activation. Our team will be happy to assist you with this.

  • Request the new meter PIN as soon as possible – ideally straight after you’ve been informed of the planned meter replacement.
  • The meter change must only be carried out in the app after the new meter has been physically installed and the PIN activated.
