Network Requirements for the EcoTracker
Published:
This article describes the network requirements for connecting the EcoTracker. Setting it up requires an available Wi-Fi signal at the meter cabinet.
Important Requirements
- The EcoTracker requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi is not supported.
- Devices on the network must be allowed to communicate with each other. This is important so that the storage and EcoTracker can communicate and regulation can take place.
- In a guest Wi-Fi network, this communication is often disabled by default. Depending on the router, it can be enabled in the guest Wi-Fi settings. You can find instructions for this in your router’s manual.
- The Wi-Fi signal at the installation site must not be weaker than -90 dBm. If the signal is weaker, the EcoTracker cannot be operated.
- If a repeater is used, its connection to the router should be stable and as good as possible. The repeater can only pass on the Wi-Fi signal quality that it receives itself.
In summary:
- The EcoTracker requires a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with permitted communication between devices on the network.
- Additionally, the signal at the installation site must be strong enough, and when using repeaters, a good connection to the router is essential.
