My EcoTracker won’t connect to the meter during setup
This article addresses issues that may arise during the initial setup of the EcoTracker.
Once the EcoTracker has successfully connected to the Wi-Fi, it attempts to collect data from the electricity meter.
Problems may occur at this stage, which are described below for the various EcoTracker models.
1. EcoTracker IR
The most common problem with the EcoTracker IR is incorrect positioning on the meter interface.
If the everHome app asks for a security key and you do not live in Austria, this is usually due to a positioning issue.
The EcoTracker IR must be positioned centrally on the interface. It is also important that the label is legible.
There are a variety of electricity meters that have small positioning aids, such as raised dots or indentations. Unfortunately, these are not standardised and should therefore not be used to align the EcoTracker.

2. EcoTracker P1
With the EcoTracker P1, it is important that the security key is stored in its settings. You will need this particularly in Austria.
Without the security key, the EcoTracker P1 cannot authenticate itself with the meter.
You should therefore request the security key (GUEK) from your network operator. It is 32 characters long.
Here’s how to enter the security key:
- Select the EcoTracker P1 in the everHome app
- Tap the cog icon to access its settings
- Enter the GUEK under ‘Security Key’
If the EcoTracker IR / P1 still does not recognise your meter or your meter is not yet listed among the compatible meters, please feel free to contact our support team via a ticket.
